Social

We have a large and varied number of social events including:

TGITs – monthly gatherings on Thursdays (our TGIFs became too large to obtain dining facilities) where we socialize and enjoy our favorite beverages and meals.

Picnic – our annual summer picnic is held in a park with games, BBQ meal and lots of socializing.

Veteran’s Day Parade – decorated cars and rides for veterans and other parade dignitaries.

Spooktacular – our annual Halloween party.

Holiday Party –  our end-of-year event including a gift exchange where members receive and steal gifts brought by all the members.

And more.

Tour

A driving event where all participants drive to a pre-determined location, usually in a long line of Corvettes. Route maps are handed out at the start, and folks have 2-way radios for communications.

Members enjoy driving back roads to locations all over the Bay Area. Restaurants, wineries and car museums are great favorites.

Road Trip

A multi-day driving event to locations near and far.  We usually drive together as we do on tours. These are planned and organized by club members including route information, maps, lists of sights along the route, and places to eat and spend the night.

We do trips of varied length where we are often an attraction along with the places we visit (our traveling car shows have even been featured on local TV):

  • Shorter Trips to locations such as Medieval Times and the Petersen Automotive Museum, Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, and the C8 Reveal in Southern California and the wine countries of Central and Northern California.  Also drives to WSCC Convention.
  • Longer trips to locations such as to SEMA in Las Vegas, Death Valley and the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, the U.S. Southwest and the national parks of Utah, Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park and chasing the eclipse of the sun.
  • Extended trips to locations such as the Calgary Stampede and Victoria in Canada, Toronto, Gettysburg and Washington, DC and a month-long trip to Nova Scotia and back.

Car Show

A social event where participants gather to show their car, view others’ cars, swap ideas for improving or changing the appearance of their cars and generally have a good  time. These shows can be small or as large as 170 cars entered. Depending upon the classification of the show it could involve rather detailed judging (Type 1) or very minimal judging (Type V), or even no judging at all. Car shows offer an opportunity to interact with other Corvette owners in your club or to socialize with those outside your club. There are usually trophies awarded at the end of each show for various categories established by the hosting club.

Our own car show is Corvette Spectacular. 2019 Corvette Spectacular Video

Autocross

A competitive event where cars negotiate a course made of traffic cones, one at a time, against the clock. A great way to exercise your Corvette, and to learn how it behaves at the limit of traction. Cars are put in classes depending on their Corvette generation and how many upgrades have been done. (Serious folks use race tires.) A great social event as well, any Corvette can compete.

Drag Race

Straight-line acceleration. Two cars at a time, side-by-side, run down a quarter-mile long track. A great opportunity to blow the excess carbon out of your engine. We use official NHRA drag strips, with the Christmas Tree starting lights, and all of their safety rules. Takes from 10 to 18 seconds, depending on your Corvette.

Track Day

The ultimate way to have a blast driving your Corvette — get out on a real race track, under controlled conditions. We are very fortunate to have several great tracks to choose from — Laguna Seca, Sonoma, Thunderhill, and more. We attend Hooked on Driving events (owned by SCC member David Ray). They put on safe, controlled track days, with lots of instruction and training for novices.
