As is the tradition of Santa Clara Corvettes, we continue to seek out and contribute to worthy local charities. Since August 16th, there have been multiple fires in the immediate area and the hardest hit has been Santa Cruz County. As of September 4th, 70,000 residents have been evacuated and over 1400 structures have been destroyed with only 56% containment so far. The fire is now the 9th most destructive wildfire in California history, ranked by structures destroyed.
As was discussed at the last Business Meeting, the Board is asking club members to consider donating money to the Community Foundation Santa Cruz County Fire Response Fund. This is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that was established in 1982. Your donation is tax-deductible and 100% of your money goes to this fund. This charity then distributes the funds to Santa Cruz County nonprofits. Click here or a list of nonprofits that this fund supports and to make a donation.
There are numerous nonprofits out there to choose from, but the Board’s research found that donating to a Community Foundation is the best to support our neighbors. Here is an article from Forbes magazine on this topic
