Here you go, track enthusiasts. Hooked on Driving (owned by David Ray, one of our members) is hosting a track day at Laguna Seca on Tuesday, Sept 3. Named “Hooked on Corvettes,” this event has been held in conjunction with the ALMS races at Laguna Seca for many years. This year, the track day is a couple weeks ahead of the big race, but it’s still a tremendous opportunity to get your Corvette out on a real race track. This is a world-famous track in our own back yard. Many Corvette owners would kill for a chance to run their Vettes here.
Hooked on Driving is a world-class, track-day host, and they know how to put on a track day and keep everyone safe doing it. If you’ve never done one of their events, you will be highly impressed with their attention to detail, introduction to the track, and the basics of track driving. In fact, if you are a first-timer, they require you to enter the novice program, which costs a bit more, but gives you a personal coach for the entire morning. (Note: novice slots are sold out for this event.) Once you get signed off for independent driving, you can proceed to march up thru the various run groups — A, B, C, and D.
I cannot emphasize enough — driving on the track is what Corvettes were designed to do. You’ve got a track-ready car there, and I believe you’ll find that track driving is one of the top experiences you can ever partake in. If you’ve got any testosterone running thru your body, this is a great thing to do.
Here are some words from HOD, concerning this event:
Extend the Labor Day weekend by driving your own car at the amazing WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca with Hooked on Driving for Hooked on Corvettes and Friends, held in conjunction with the Western States Corvette Council (WSCC), and sponsored by Chevrolet of Stevens Creek. While Corvettes are a featured marque for this day, ALL marques are welcome!
This is a 90db sound-limited event — Monterey County ordinance. See the HOD website for more information about meeting the sound requirement. (The odds are that your stock Corvette will not meet this requirement. You need to take some precautions to assure meeting sound. You get busted for excessive sound, you get to go home early.)
Annual family membership/username in Team HOD is required. Driver’s lunch is included. Guest lunches are $16 each. Convertibles are not allowed.
6″ numbers are required on both sides of the car. You may purchase the next available number for $5 from HOD during registration or at the event. Helmet rentals are available in a variety of sizes. Please see the HOD website to register, and for all the relevant details. https://www.hookedondriving.com/event-details/9.3.19_Laguna_Seca_Hooked_on_Corvettes_and_Friends_Driving_Event_-_90db_Sound_Limit.
